Iron Man Men's Ministry
"As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another." (Proverbs 27:17)
Our Iron Man Men’s Ministry focuses on FOUR things that we intentionally aim to do – EAT, PLAY, SERVE, and SACRIFICE.
The first two (EAT and PLAY) are often combined and fairly self-explanatory; some of the events we plan focus on enjoying good food and/or having fun. Boys will be boys!
Some of the ways we eat and/or play are…
- Breakfast meetings
- Various tournaments (golf, horseshoe, etc.)
- Other fun stuff like indoor cart racing or going to a shooting range
We also seek to actively SERVE our church and community in meaningful ways. Another word for this is WORK; many guys just like working and working hard, so some events requiring getting a little dirty. Achieving measurable success in "fixing stuff", while building trust and respect as we see each other work hard and well, means a lot to us.
A few examples include…
- Work days at the church
- Putting together teams to go to the houses of various people in the church who need some cleaning, repair, or construction done yet who are physically incapable of doing the work.
The last thing is our ultimate aim and cannot be scheduled or programmed—that is, to SACRIFICE for one another. Another word for this could be WAR (such as, "I’d go to war with this guy!"). No greater bond between men can be witnessed than when we see men suffering and risking great loss for one another.
