(Volunteer Opportunities)
There are plenty of opportunities to "get in the game" and serve in the church and community. Below are a variety of current opportunities that we know of (if you can think of others please let us know and you might end up seeing it below).
Volunteering at ARCC
Volunteering in the Community
Use the Contact page to E-mail the leaders of these ARCC ministries, and they will answer any questions you might have. See how you can get "off the bench" and "into the game".
- SUNDAY MORNINGS: There are six teams where you can serve:
- Worship Team (audio/visual, band, & choir – see Music Ministry below),
- Usher Team (distribute bulletins, take offering, assist with special needs, etc. during Worship Service)
- Welcome Team (help people feel at home as a Greeter or by serving at the Information Center – overseen by the Friendship Ministry)
- Hospitality Team: set-up/clean-up snacks and beverages in Rasmussen Hall, etc. – overseen by the Friendship Ministry)
- Security Team “gatekeepers”
- Children’s Ministry Team (Teachers, Teacher's Assistants, and parent volunteers – see King’s Kids below)
- Office Team:
- The office can ALWAYS use help (filing, shredding, cleaning out cupboards, re-organizing, helping with mailings, putting the newsletter or worship folders together, etc.).
NOTE: PLEASE CALL IN ADVANCE TO ARRANGE WITH THE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT WHEN AND HOW YOU WOULD LIKE TO VOLUNTEER. - Know computers better than your own mother? Your technological skill and passion in IT can help the church tremendously with everything from office systems to website development and management!

- Wonder-land School
- Assist with school fundraisers
- Clean toys
- Come teach the kids about a talent (you can tell the kids about a talent or teach them using a talent) you have

- King’s Kids Children’s Ministry (age 0+ through 5th Gd.):
- Become a lead teacher or teacher’s assistant (requires a six month commitment; you serve a total of three months during that time on a one month on, one month off basis)
- Become a regular volunteer 1-2 times a month (requires a three month commitment)
- o If you can’t help on a regular (scheduled) basis, you might want to be a volunteer for King’s Kids special events (planning, transportation to/from, assisting at the event) or help provide childcare for other church events
- "Elevate" Youth Ministry (6th-12th Gd.):
- Be a member of our leadership team
- Help with regular meetings or special events (planning, set-up/clea-up, etc.)
- Be a volunteer chaperone and/or driver for special events
- Women’s Ministry:
- Assist with Coffee Talk meetings (Hospitality Leader & Assistants, Table Hostess Team Leader, greeters, bring refreshments, refreshment and room set up and clean up, be a Table Hostess, oversee door prizes, help with sound, publicity, etc.)
- Bible Studies (join a Prayer Team, oversee e-mail prayer chain, become a Team Teacher/Facilitator, help keep up class rosters & other information, and/or become a driver for women without transportation)
- Women’s Retreat (Retreat Leader Assistants, help with registration, driving, calling or e-mailing women)
- Crafty Ladies (make items at your home, church or at home of coordinator, help with publicity, help set up Boutique by setting up signs, providing baked goods, kitchen help, clean up, etc.)
- "Ironman" Men’s Ministry:
- Be a member of our leadership team
- Help with regular meetings or special events (planning, setting up/cleaning up, etc.)
- "Access" – College/Early Career Ministry (18-30’s):
- Be a member of our leadership team
- Help with regular meetings or special events (planning, set-up/clean-up, etc.)
- Get your kicks via calling on the phone, texting, e-mailing, etc.? Help us get the word out for special events or unexpected needs
- Become a facilitator of our Sunday morning Bible study
- "Ambassadors" – Professional Adult Ministry (40’s-60’s):
- Help plan and/or lead special meetings/outings
- Assist with our annual church-wide pancake breakfast
- "Crusaders" – Sr. Adult Ministry (70+):
- Help plan and/or lead special meetings/outings
- Bible studies:
- Help host or lead a Bible study
- Missions:
- Read and respond to correspondence with our missionaries, either via snail mail or the Internet
- Assist in projects to encourage congregational interest in our missionaries
- Help to provide current information to the congregation about missionary opportunities that individuals may wish to participate in.
- Worship (Music) Ministry:
- Be a member of the A/V Team (sound, PowerPoint, lighting, audio/video recording)
- Play an instrument or have a voice that would complement the contemporary music of our Casual Service? Join the Worship Team
- Exercise the pipes by joining the Choir in the Loft (Traditional Service)
- Friendship Ministry:
- Serve on the Welcome and Hospitality Teams on Sunday mornings
- Fellowship Ministry:
- Be a part of our visiting team who visit those in our church family physically incapable of attending services
- Help with the annual Thanksgiving and Christmas Food and Gift Basket outreach
- Stewardship Ministry:
- Help with special seminars on financial management
- Help collect, count, and secure offerings
- Property Ministry:
- Call the office or use the Contact page to get in touch with the person in charge of our Property committee; there is ALWAYS stuff that needs to get done.
- Be a "Mr. or Ms. Fix It" and help fix stuff that needs fix’n!
- New Horizons Counseling Center:
- Administrative assistance (filing, mailings, etc.)
- We are a small operation (i.e. don’t have a janitor); you can help us out by helping keep the office looking sharp (vacuuming, dusting, windows, etc.)
- American River Community Garden:
- Daily waterer for the Feed the Hungry garden and other common areas
- Harvesters in the Feed the Hungry garden (Thursday; 2 hours)
- Weed pullers (one a week)
- There are always other misc. projects and of course planting (seasonal)

Specific Volunteer Organizations and Opportunities…

- Help man phones at the Food Closet (morning & afternoon)
- Help put together bags for families (morning)
- Help pick up food deliveries (some heavy lifting involved)
- Love them Both – Contact Murray Lewis or 916-483-8500
- Administrative assistance (computer, fundraising, etc.)
- Assist in finding and staffing new homes
- Meal preparations (cooking and teaching how to cook)
- Transportation of mothers to appointments
- Childcare for moms who have appointments where they can’t take their child or who just need a break!
- Mentoring mothers (pass on your wisdom to "rookies")
- Evaluation of needs of new mothers to the program

- Alternatives Pregnancy Resource Center
- Train to become a client advocate
- Be a mentor for new parents
- Sorting and organizing donations
- Help with administrative needs (e.g. receptionist)
- Be a church liaison
- Pick up donated items and deliver them to the center
- Help with special fundraiser events, such as "Capital Walk"
- Be a small group Bible study leader.
