First Baptist Church of Carmichael (FBCC) Foundation
"The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever." (Isaiah 40:8)
An Eternal Investment
If you really had to narrow it down, First Baptist Church of Carmichael (now known as American River Community Church) has desired since its beginning to be nothing more than a place and fellowship of Christians where "the word of God", God’s personal message to humanity, is preached and practiced. As such, we believe that to make an investment in the ministry of ARCC is to make a deposit in eternity so long as we stay faithful to our purpose.
People have made that investment (often very sacrificial) for over 60 years by serving in the church and by financially supporting its ministry through regular giving. Since 1980, when the FBCC Foundation was established, many have additionally chosen to make a lasting and significant investment in ARCC by establishing memorial funds for church family and friends who have departed to be with Christ. Other church members and friends have then contributed to these funds as a way of honoring the life of those who have passed. When a gift is received, an acknowledgement of receipt is sent to the donor and a notification is sent to the bereaved family listing the names of the donors. In addition, the names of those honored are beautifully inscribed on a plaque located in the entryway to the worship center.
How Are FBCC Funds Spent?
Most churches don’t receive from their regular giving the kind of money that is needed to take care of long term facility needs (major repairs, restorations, remodeling, and additions). Recognizing the significant importance of our church campus as a "home base" for God’s work through ARCC, a significant portion of FBCC funds are used for non-budgeted property related expenses. A few recent examples of these would be the addition of a pager system to the church nursery, the restoration of the bell tower, the recarpeting and repainting of the church office, and soon the remodeling of the youth room.
Yet not all FBCC funds are utilized on the physical campus; some funds are designated (at the request of those who established the fund) for special needs associated with particular ministries of the church. So, for example, when a teenager’s family is financially struggling to the point that they are unable to pay for a summer youth camp or a spring mission’s trip, there is a memorial fund that was established years ago that can be utilized to help bridge the economic gap.
These are just a few examples of the lasting impact of FBCC Foundation memorial funds. Long after "the flowers fall", they ensure that the ministry of ARCC will continue to impact future generations with the good news of Jesus Christ.
